Top-rated independent heating and cooling across California's Central Valley and the Sierra foothills

Whole-Home Humidifiers

We install and service whole-home humidifiers that tie into your existing HVAC system and add moisture to the air as it moves through the ductwork. Homeowners across California and Nevada call us when winter heating dries the house out: cracked woodwork, static shocks, dry throats, nosebleeds, and skin that never settles down. If that sounds like your house from November to March, call us and we will look at your ducts, your furnace or air handler, and your water access to see what fits.

What the installation actually involves

A whole-home humidifier mounts on the supply or return plenum near your furnace or air handler, not in a single room. We cut and seal an opening in the duct, mount the unit, run a small water line from a nearby supply, add a drain where the design needs one, and wire the humidistat so it only runs when the heat is calling. Most installs take part of a day. We test the water feed and check for leaks before we leave the house.

What we check before and during the work

We measure indoor relative humidity in a few rooms, then look at duct size, plenum space, and static pressure so the unit does not choke airflow. We check for a water supply we can tap cleanly and a drain path that will not back up. On existing humidifiers we inspect the water panel or pad for scale, the solenoid valve, the humidistat wiring, and the bypass damper. Hard valley water clogs these units fast, so pads and screens get looked at every season.

How we decide a humidifier is the right call

We recommend one when readings come in low across the house and the dryness follows your heating season. If humidity is uneven room to room, the answer is usually duct leakage or airflow, and we fix that first. Homes with a lot of exposed wood, musical instruments, or someone with breathing trouble see the most benefit. If your problem is summer stickiness instead, you want dehumidification or an AC sizing review, and we will tell you that straight.

Whole-Home Humidifiers — quick answers

Will a whole-home humidifier make my heating system work harder?

A properly sized unit adds very little load. Problems come from an undersized plenum or a bypass damper left open in cooling season. We size to your ductwork and set the damper correctly at install.

How often does the water panel need changing?

Usually once a heating season, sooner with hard water. We check it during heating maintenance. A scaled panel stops absorbing water, so the unit runs and runs without raising humidity in the house.

Can I add one to an attic package unit?

Sometimes. It depends on plenum access, a nearby water supply, and a drain path in the attic. We will get up there, look at the duct layout, and tell you honestly whether it works.

How it works

  1. Step 1

    Tell us the symptom

Call or fill in the quote form. We ask what changed, when it started, and what the thermostat reads. That tells us whether to bring parts for a cooling fault or a heating fault.

  2. Step 2

    We diagnose on site

A technician checks the thermostat, the electrical side, airflow through the filter and coil, refrigerant pressures, and the outdoor unit. You get told what failed and why, in plain words, before anything is replaced.

  3. Step 3

    Repair and verify

We make the repair, then run the system and measure the results at the vents. If a part needs ordering, we say so and give you a realistic window instead of a vague promise.

Why homeowners call us

  • Built for real valley heatWe work in areas where afternoons sit above 110 degrees and systems run for months without a break. That shapes how we size repairs, check capacitors and contactors, and judge whether a compressor is genuinely done.
  • Attic and package unitsPlenty of homes across the region run attic air handlers or rooftop package units instead of a garage furnace and a side-yard condenser. We are used to the access, the duct runs, and the drain issues those setups bring.
  • Dust and debris we expectAg dust, cottonwood fluff and grass clippings pack condenser coils and starve a system of airflow. We clean what we find and show you the difference, rather than adding refrigerant to a unit that just could not breathe.
  • Heating too, not only ACFurnace repair, heat pump faults and no-heat calls get the same attention as summer work. Ignition problems, cracked or failing components and short cycling all get diagnosed before we recommend anything larger.
  • All major brands, gas & electricFrom Carrier and Trane to Lennox, Goodman, Rheem and Bryant, serviced independently.
  • Straight answersWhen a replacement beats a repair, we tell you, sometimes before we roll a truck.
